Product safety, efficacy, and environmental impact inform all of our decisions at Supernal— from formulation considerations and ingredient sourcing to packaging materials and beyond. These considerations come first, from the earliest stages of development to the point at which you receive your Supernal product.
Regulatory Compliance
What are your safety standards?
Safety and efficacy lead all formulation methodologies at Supernal and we take great time and care to ensure that each ingredient used is thoroughly vetted and responsibly sourced. We formulate to meet US, EU and CA safety regulations and we are officially registered on the CPNP portal. Our UK/EU Responsible Lab is PWC Solutions as listed on our secondary packaging.
TESTING
Are Supernal products clinically tested?
While it is not a legal requirement to go to market, both Cosmic Glow Oil and Illumine Restorative Oil Serum have undergone clinical trial at CPT Labs for dermal irritation and allergic reaction. On a scale of 0-4 (with 4 being a severe reaction) all participants in both studies scored a 0 for the duration of testing across several weeks.
Manufacturing
Where are your products made?
All of our products are handcrafted by our founder and packaged and shipped by our small family team out of our studio in New York. We work hard to create as little waste as possible across all facets of manufacturing and strive to be mindful of what we put out into the world. We use TerraCycle’s All-In-One Zero Waste Box at our studio which allows us to recycle almost any type of waste we create while we work.
Packaging
Is your packaging sustainable?
We are proud to say that our 1oz/30ml secondary packaging product boxes use FSC-Certified paper made from 100% post-consumer waste. FSC-Certified ensures the paper we use meets the Forest Stewardship Council’s standards for well-managed forests and the responsible use of forest resources. The paper stock is also manufactured using 100% Renewable Green Electricity, a renewable form of energy that replaces fossil fuels with energy generated from sources such as hydro, wind, and solar power. The protective inner lining is made of corrugated fiber from 100% recycled material and is fully recyclable as is the box. As of now, our shipping boxes are not yet FSC-certified. Though we are a very small, family-run company who hand-box and ship all Supernal orders directly from our New York Studio, we are still actively working on making our shipping methods as sustainable as possible. Our sustainablity efforts are on-going and will continue to improve as our small company grows.
